| The water temperature in the pool is 80 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
Although the actual pool temperature remain constant, the perceived temperature may vary as the surrounding air temperature and humidity changes. Sometimes the pool will "feel" cooler or warmer. Rest assured, the pool is working fine.
Of course 82 degrees is less than the average person's body temperature of 98.6 degrees - so there is body-heat loss. This heat loss is going to vary depending on the size and thickness of each swimmer. Some of our smaller and thinner swimmers have been known to wear properly fitted rash-guards (as use for boogie boarding) or thin wet-suits. It is important that this clothing is properly fitted otherwise it will only allow cool water to flow within the suit and act as a drag-suit on the child.
It is recommended that you discuss this with the coach to determine an appropriate amount of time for workouts so as to remain comfortable and meaningful for the swimmer.
